Step 1: The goal for Lani was to use some very intensely colored pink ivory and make the most beautiful candlestick I could design. The first step was to cut segments for the base on my Incra sled.
Step 2: Here are the five rings of pink ivory and holly and a double rope twist of pink ivory. The twist looks like candy, doesn’t it?
Step 3: The rings have been assembled and are ready to turn with the addition of African blackwood pieces on the top and bottom.
Step 4: The shavings from turning the base. If you purchase Lani, I will send you some of these shavings in a plastic bag along with the candlestick.
Step 5: The completed base.
Step 6: This shows the 12-stave crown with pieces of blackwood on the top and bottom ready to turn.
Step 7: The completed crown.
Step 8: The finished base.
Step 9: The completed candlestick. It is hard to believe that these lovely colors are natural and not painted on.
